Mukul Midha, Phd

Research Scientist

Institute for Systems Biology

Seattle, USA

Dr. Midha’s research is focused onto understanding the early events which activate the development of metabolic disorders using different quantitative proteomics strategies, in particular with high resolution mass spectrometry.  Dr. Midha studied the molecular mechanism associated with obesity and diabetes signaling pathways in mouse models and received his PhD from Immunology department, International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, India in 2013.  Post PhD, he joined as a Research Associate at THSTI, India and worked on SWATH-MS for absolute quantification of mycobacterial proteins during human macrophage infection.  He joined ISB in 2016 as a Post-Doctoral fellow.  His current interests are standardizing and implementing different chromatography and MS setups in the field of label free quantitative proteomics

Michael Hoopmann, Ph.D.

Senior Research Scientist

Institute for Systems Biology

Seattle, USA

Dr. Hoopmann’s research is focused on proteomics technology and methods development, having been trained in both instrumentation and software data analysis, with particular focus on high-resolution mass spectrometry. His current interests are in the development of advanced algorithms for discovery-based proteomics. He is the developer of the Kojak algorithm [url: http://kojak-ms.org], a versatile, open-source software application for the discovery of protein-protein interactions through shotgun-based mass spectrometry. Dr. Hoopmann is also a contributor to the Trans-Proteomic Pipeline [url: http://www.proteomecenter.org/software.php] suite of software solutions for mass spectrometry data analysis.

Seamus Morrone, Ph.D.

Research Scientist

Institute for Systems Biology

Seattle, USA

Seamus received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Washington and his PhD from The Johns Hopkins University, where he worked under Professor Jungsan Sohn. His graduate work focused on a class of innate immune receptors and their propensity to form filaments when activated, which suggests a way to understand certain autoimmune diseases. He then worked with Professor Sheemei Lok at Duke-NUS in Singapore, where he performed structural studies on dengue and Zika viruses and their interactions with antibodies. He joined the Moritz group in the summer of 2019.

Charu Kapil Midha, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow

Institute for Systems Biology

Seattle, USA

Dr. Midha’s research is focused on automating qualitative and quantitative proteomics data analysis pipeline. During her PhD she carried out genomics and proteomics computational analysis of Malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum at International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, India in 2013. Later, as a Postdoctoral fellow, she worked on SERPIN protein family at Department of Biosciences, Jamia Millia Islamia, India. She joined the proteomics group in 2017 as a Visiting Scholar working on imputing missing proteomics data and later joined as a Postdoctoral fellow. Her current interests are optimizing and implementing Data Dependent and Data Independent acquisition based analysis tools.
